Editorially curated·7 cities

The five best places
in your neighborhood.

No pay-to-play. No bloated lists. Just five honest picks per neighborhood — ranked by combining real Google star ratings with how many people left them, so a 4.9 with twelve reviews doesn't beat a 4.6 with eight hundred.

The method

Why we don't just sort by stars

A 4.9-star restaurant with twelve reviews probably hasn't been stress-tested. A 4.6 with eight hundred reviews almost certainly has. We use a Bayesian weighted score combined with a volume bonus — so consistent positive feedback at scale wins over a high average from a tiny sample.

score = (v / (v + m)) × R + (m / (v + m)) × C + γ × log₁₀(v)

R = the place's rating · v = its review count · C = mean rating across local candidates · γ = a small constant rewarding review volume · m = an area-adaptive prior weight (set to the median review count in the neighborhood, clamped between 100 and 2,000).

On top of that, places that clearly dominate their neighborhood by review volume (3× more than #2, 1,000+ reviews, 4.2+ stars) are promoted to #1 outright. Chain locations are collapsed so you see five distinct picks, not three Blue Bottles.
